The Black Marlin is the second largest member of the Istiophoridae family (the billfish) growing to a maximum of around 5 meters in length and 700kg. It is a fast and formidable predator and feeds mainly on fish and cephalopod species found in the tropical pelagic regions of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It is a highly prized gamefish and an important species in some commercial fisheries.
